Scoil Mhuire Becomes GAA 5 Star Centre
Scoil Mhuire Glenties enjoyed a day of celebration on Monday 7th October as they became a GAA 5 Star Centre. Recognition as a GAA 5 Star Centre is awarded to primary schools that deliver a programme of Gaelic games activities over the course of the school year. Present at the flag-raising ceremony was Donie McCole who coaches the children and Aaron Kyles, Coaching Officer with Donegal GAA. Members of the Naomh Conall GAA Club were also present with club chairperson David Kelch speaking of the strong links between the club and the school. Former school principal Paddy McDwyer spoke about his memories in helping establish Gaelic games within the school. The day involved singing, dancing, storytelling and recitations from the children which kept all who were in attendance well entertained!
